2D people

Internet friendships are interesting, occasionally exhilarating, & often very strange things.

I'm pretty shy. A reasonably well-known fact. I usually sit back & wait for people to come to me... wouldn't want to interrupt... But when friendship is solid, when love is cemented I'm right there front & centre of the battlements.

I miss my best friend. Is that juvenile to say? I couldn't care if it is. She has real life things to deal with, a life I only read of on screen.

I miss her. . .

  1. Not at all juvenile. And I am an authority on juvenile!

    1. Least you don't disappear. I'd probably go a tad bonkers. *nervous giggle*

  2. I am quite familiar with this feeling... And it's not just losing someone for long periods of time, sometimes online conversations can be abruptly interrupted by the real world. I have learned to compensate by simply appreciating whatever time I can get. The missing is still there, just less frustrating.

    2. Nope. That was connectivity issues. I was getting ready to change into my latex suit.

    4. Sorry about that… The disappearing, not the bronyness.

  3. It's perhaps also juvenile to suggest patience even though strong friendships and committed relationships....in all dimensions.... tend to endure and grow stronger over time.

I recently read some of the biography of Emily Dickinson, who never married but maintained a long-standing correspondence with her lover. Her poetry reflects the depth and intensity of that love. I imagine their breathless anticipation and anxiety as they each waited for the fickle mail system, delivered by horse and coach, to come through with the next note, more precious than anything.

Sonnet, you have the uncanny ability to share something simple yet personal that allows others to peer inside and discover something special about yourself and about themselves as well.
