I hate gluten-free vegans

Y'know what I want? I want to want a beef burger. Cooked just right; with fried onions & cheese, pickles, ketchup, & mustard. No salad. Let's not even give a nod to healthy eating. The bap (or, bun, or whatever you American types call it) has wheat flour in it, & the sauce is all oozy. I'd need fifteen napkins just to get through with any semblance of dignity.

I want ice-cream. Mint choc chip was always my favourite. Or truthfully, I want key lime pie... But in saying that I'm not really one for sweets.

I want to swim in a vat of pasta sauce like a happy little noodle. That's it that's the very thing, to come back in my next life as gnocchi, or as a pizza. God but I miss proper pizza...

    2. Not in a smoothie. Cancer patients drink smoothies. I prefer food that I can recognize.

    1. Oddly enough... I had grilled chicen, fresh from the garden tomatoes, sautéed cauliflower with pine nuts, pan fried Brussels sprouts and... No lie... Home made kale chips that were quite good. And a dark chocolate bar for dessert.

    1. Hmmm. A better diet would be good in general. As for ADD itself, I haven't noticed any difference personally... But it's worth a try.

  4. Note from the supermarket: Something new in the pasta and ready-made bread aisles: Gluten-free sliced bread and gluten-free pasta.

Carbs a bit higher. So too with the calories per serving. Some new chems in the ingredient listings. Seems like the stuff in a bag of fertilizer with weed killer. I see. Wheat flour and healthy sprouted grains replaced by rice and corn, both valueless food stuffs found aplenty.

And yikes, a 12-ounce of puke-colored linguine (not the industry standard 16-ounce pound) is $5.50 at Jerry's Supermarket vs. $1.50 for the larger size by Batali. Same deal with the oddly colored sliced bread. More than 2x the price for less.

*Fills cart with pretzels, a baguette, fresh pasta and, shhhhhh, huge chocolate-chocolate chip cookies*

    Heavenly gluten.

  5. I read that gluten free diets may not actually decrease gastrointestinal upset, and that it may all be psychological. A study done by the same guy that first discovered the possible role of gluten in causing GI upset found this in a follow up study. Interesting read/study nonetheless.
