Y'know what I want? I want to want a beef burger. Cooked just right; with fried onions & cheese, pickles, ketchup, & mustard. No salad. Let's not even give a nod to healthy eating. The bap (or, bun, or whatever you American types call it) has wheat flour in it, & the sauce is all oozy. I'd need fifteen napkins just to get through with any semblance of dignity.
I want ice-cream. Mint choc chip was always my favourite. Or truthfully, I want key lime pie... But in saying that I'm not really one for sweets.
I want to swim in a vat of pasta sauce like a happy little noodle. That's it that's the very thing, to come back in my next life as gnocchi, or as a pizza. God but I miss proper pizza...

Kale smoothies! My fave. *vomit*
ReplyDeleteKale is yummy.
DeleteNot in a smoothie. Cancer patients drink smoothies. I prefer food that I can recognize.
Delete<<< doesn't have cancer. Most likely.
DeleteMeatloaf and mashed taters for supper last night....Likely homemade pizza tonight. I know, I know......cruel...heartless....evil.
ReplyDeleteOddly enough... I had grilled chicen, fresh from the garden tomatoes, sautéed cauliflower with pine nuts, pan fried Brussels sprouts and... No lie... Home made kale chips that were quite good. And a dark chocolate bar for dessert.
DeleteMeatloaf scares me a bit. :/
DeleteMeatloaf is a big juicy hamburger cooked in the oven.
Deleteindeed. :I
DeleteI was told a gluten free diet may help my son with his ADHD....I dont know I x an hardly get him to eat well in the first place...
ReplyDeleteHmmm. A better diet would be good in general. As for ADD itself, I haven't noticed any difference personally... But it's worth a try.
DeleteNote from the supermarket: Something new in the pasta and ready-made bread aisles: Gluten-free sliced bread and gluten-free pasta.
ReplyDeleteCarbs a bit higher. So too with the calories per serving. Some new chems in the ingredient listings. Seems like the stuff in a bag of fertilizer with weed killer. I see. Wheat flour and healthy sprouted grains replaced by rice and corn, both valueless food stuffs found aplenty.
And yikes, a 12-ounce of puke-colored linguine (not the industry standard 16-ounce pound) is $5.50 at Jerry's Supermarket vs. $1.50 for the larger size by Batali. Same deal with the oddly colored sliced bread. More than 2x the price for less.
*Fills cart with pretzels, a baguette, fresh pasta and, shhhhhh, huge chocolate-chocolate chip cookies*
Heavenly gluten.
My kingdom for a croissant!
DeleteI probably should not tell you about Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits then...lmao
DeleteBest not.
DeleteI read that gluten free diets may not actually decrease gastrointestinal upset, and that it may all be psychological. A study done by the same guy that first discovered the possible role of gluten in causing GI upset found this in a follow up study. Interesting read/study nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on making potatoes in deep fried duck fat this week...
