When There's Injustice...

So, a young man, unarmed, is killed by the police.

It's a tragedy.  An honest to God tragedy.  Things like this shouldn't happen.  A mother has outlived her son.  Something needs to change.

But things like this have happened before.  Civil disobedience just doesn't seem to have an effect.

The logical conclusion is to have a protest.  Yes.  Of course.

But protests are ignored.  So, the next logical step is to riot.  Exactly!  Target the offenders!  Riot against the police department!

No?

Wait!  You want to loot your own community?  You want to steal from your neighbors?

I don't understand.   Why is this ok?  Not that I am advocating attacking the police.   But at least that I could begin to understand.  Frustration makes us do irrational things.

But why is there not an uproar about the inappropriate response for the community?

In a much more benign case, there was also a story of employees who, in support of the CEO who had been ousted by the board, decides that walking off the job was a good idea.  And customers joined them!   And now the company is on the verge of default because thin margins have been compromised...  because there's no business.

People are dumb as fuck and we shouldn't accept it anymore.

  1. Opportunists waiting for an excuse to be destructive and steal and blame it on race. Race hustlers and opportunists. And many of the perpetrators were not even from the area. A kid's death is an absolute tragedy that should be investigated. Unfortunately there will never be a fair investigation now because the situation has been tainted by idiocy. I am sure the local police department are thankful that Eric Holder and Al Sharpton have now come to the rescue. The population as a whole is dumb as fuck because they are either entertained by it.

  3. Ferguson is very close to where I grew up. We hung out in these areas a lot... so I am pretty aware of the way of life and how people are in general in regards to this place......

Robert is right...they are simply using this as an excuse to be criminals. The night began as a peaceful protest ...they walked the streets...they marched to the police station....that is what they should have done.... that was the right thing to do....but then...then some fuck heads decided they were going to start some shit....and they live to start shit...that's is the way they roll there...anything to start shit.

There is no excuse what so ever to burn and destroy your own community...the same community you claim to be fighting for...the same community where you live...your children live your family lives.....and you want to burn it and destroy it ?! What the hell kind of sense does that make??

  4. YES they have the right to be outraged.... they have the right to be mad...angry...they have the right to congregate peacefully, to make themselves heard...to be known ..to show they are not backing down....

Rioting and violence will only hurt your cause...in fact it makes the case against you that much stronger.....

    but this is the mentality..

East St. Louis... everyone knows that you do not drive through there unless you HAVE to....never alone...especially women..ESPECIALLY WHITE WOMEN AND MEN.....NEVER at night....EVER....

because simply being white means they will target you...even in your locked car...they will approach you at a stop light they will have a gun and they will rob you..if not worse....it is not myth...it is fact.

BUT...why? I am white...I have never in my life cared about what color people are...never in my life made a racist statement..or anything of the nature...

YET, the mentality of black men and women in the Stl area is that whitey is out to get them...ALL white people hate ALL black people and that is the way they teach their children....

Mostly this only becomes a major issue when someone white enters a "predominantly black" area...E St. Louis...or the area that is being discussed now....although that area is not as dire as E. ST. Louis

I am not sure what the news is saying elsewhere but truly none of the "witness accounts" have even been verified..... the police have not actually verified that this boy had his hands up.... there is also SPECULATION ..not fact..but speculation that the boy struggled with the officer to try and take his gun inside the police vehicle....the boy WAS in the police vehicle before the shooting..... again this has not been verified at all...It has also been said that the boy stole from the Quick Trip (which is why the assholes chose to burn it down) because the QT called the cops...and the whole reason the cops had this boy in the first place is because he was a thief....BUT again...speculation.....

The police and fbi are keeping quiet...they have not released the name of the officer and they should not because those people will kill him.

The problem with quiet is that it allows people to make up all kinds of stories and it allows the media to speculate ..but people do not listen close enough ...people hear what the media says and take it as fact...when the media itself is only speculating from accounts given by regular citizens and not the police or fbi...so this causes more trouble...because all of these speculations are being tossed around as fact..when in reality NO ONE KNOWS WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED...NOR WHAT LED UP TO THE INCIDENT......

if the officer shot this boy and it is found to be wrongful...then this officer should be punished to the fullest extent...no doubt... and vice versa...if that boy was attempting to take an officers gun that is grounds for him to shoot...and kill... is it not?!

Those people of that community surely have valid concerns... I am not so naïve to think that people in power do not abuse their positions.....but at the same time ...those people need to take a bit of personal responsibility....after all..it is their community and they are causing the violence..gang activity...drug dealing....you name it.... they are not innocents....really and if they want to see change in their community how about self respect and respect for authority.... if the authority is doing wrong does that excuse you from doing wrong? no...it means you have to find the right way around to getting what is right......

I hope this all makes sense

  5. And, don't think that the militarization of our police forces is not a problem. They do not get off the hook on the situation either. The bottom line? The whole world is burning and all anyone does is fan the flames.

Hey, perfect talking head for Fox News. Not quite as dumb as Shepherd Smith whose comment about Robin Williams being a coward for offing himself should be grounds for banishment anywhere but Joe Goebbels favorite station. But enough for the rest of the right wing fascists to rally around since Commies and weapons of mass destruction is so last-generation passe.

It is not world-ending dear Drama Queens. Calm down . . . pour faster.

Indeed, there is a mob mentality when the uneducated gather and a spark ignites them. Indeed, there is a minority number with an agenda that begins by throwing the first stone and then saying to themselves, "Jackpot, Motherfucker!"

But lets not lose sight or mitigate the other important issue. A cop seemingly acted reckless and that was a problem of either lack of proper training under stress, a miss by the police profilers when hot steel and hot temper combine by a guy in uniform or perhaps it was just a case of plain ol' 'black teen = bad news'.

The police force has handled it poorly and has botched the post-episode pr allowing the opportunist Sharptons and the loonies from the right to descend.

    1. KT, Have you ever actually watched Fox News or do you get your commentary from the OFA talking points sheet?

  8. Sorry for offending ya GT. Just infuriated that Mr. Smith callously labeled Robin Williams a coward an hour or some after he committed suicide. And forgot the loon Rush is not affiliated with Fox whatsoever.

Just a single bit of bias and racial card flashing... so far. In yesterday's edition of The Kelly File, Fox News correspondent Mike Tobin explained that while “demonstrations remained peaceful throughout the day, Black Panther Party members were seen in Ferguson." Martha MacCallum (subbing for Kelly) highlighted a tweet and Facebook posts from one New Black Panther Party member in particular who she claimed “is very vociferously advocating violence against the police.”

  9. I'm heading to Ferguson soon. I could really use a new laptop and I hear prices there are unbeatable. Do you think I could bring a pitchfork on a plane?

    1. Pitchforks are not needed. All you need is a cigarette lighter and some ambition and you will have your laptop!
